Talking to a doctor about your own mental health can be difficult, so the Mental Health Foundation has produced a practical guide with details on what to expect from your appointment and what your GP can do for you. By using the tips and advice in the booklet you’ll be able to speak to your GP about your mental health with greater confidence.

Help with mental health emergencies

Need Help in a Crisis? The Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust provide mental health and social care and information can be found here: Help in a mental health crisis

In the event of an emergency situation or if you or someone else is in immediate risk of serious harm or injury:

  • Contact the Emergency Services by dialling 999 and stating which service you require;
  • The Accident & Emergency department at the Northern General Hospita  is open 24 hours a day every day of the year.
