The Truth Project

The Truth Project is the first of a three-part inquiry that promises to take action for child victims and survivors of sexual abuse by making useful recommendations to stop future failure. This Inquiry is investigating how well organisations have taken seriously their duties to protect children from sexual abuse, with a primary focus on the failure of organisations.

How the inquiry is structured

1. The Truth Project

Reaching out to those who have been abused on an organisation’s property or grounds, came into contact with the person who abused in an organisation, or someone from the organisation knew what was happening and nothing was done to stop the abuser. If you're a victim or survivor of sexual abuse, The Truth Project urges you to get in touch it's through safe and confidential services. Click here to find out how to reach The Truth Project as a victim or survivor.

The Public Hearings Project, similar to a conventional public inquiry, will give witnesses the opportunity to give evidence on oath and are subject to cross examination.

3. The Research Project

An analysis report will be published which addresses institutional failures in child protection.

The Inquiry will also commission sector specific research to better understand the scale of the problem and to identify recommendations for change.

Together, the information received in all three projects will inform the overall conclusions and recommendations of the Chair and the Panel.
