GPs in Sheffield are encouraging people to download the free Sheffield NHS health service finder and symptom checker app to help people access the right NHS services this winter.

The app provides Sheffield residents with information on where to go for specific illnesses or injuries, and uses location settings to pinpoint the nearest service encouraging people to seek healthcare help and advice from the most appropriate source.

It also includes a symptom checker, as well as information on self-care, first aid and healthy living advice about alcohol, smoking, healthy eating and weight, fitness and stress.

Dr Zak McMurray, Sheffield GP and NHS Sheffield CCG Medical Director said: “The app allows people to have important health information at their fingertips for when they need it the most. More importantly it is easy to use, easy to understand and free.

“During winter there can be a greater demand on our local health services, the app encourages residents to choose the right health service when they are injured or feeling unwell, allowing busy services like A&E to treat people who need them most.”
