Privacy Policy

Information disclosure changes due to Covid-19

Following a legitimate request from the Local Authority acting under the current COVID19 regulations the CCG is making patient data available on at risk groups. Your data may or may not qualify for that list. In order to remove your data our information lead would need your NHS number to ensure we can remove your records. We are only part of this process – the Council will have details passed directly to them via a National patient exercise run by central government which the CCG are unable to remove your data from.

Whilst we understand people are protective of their personal information the current regulations require agencies to share such data as is necessary to ensure the health of the whole population. All data releases under the current regulations mandate that the data must only be used for management of COVID19 and must be deleted when those regulation expire (Sept 2020). We are trying to ensure this is done with as little risk to individuals data and their privacy being impacted and still paying regard to what is necessary.

The release of data to the Council has been signed off by the director with responsibility for disclosures, The GP Caldecott guardian (tasked with being the organisational conscience in regard to patient data) and the independent advisor on data security who reports to the Accountable Officer.

For us to ensure that your data is not shared, simply e-mail our Information Governance mailbox (sheffieldccg.informationgovernance@nhs.net) with a subject “remove” and just your NHS number in the body of the e-mail.

All references to the 'site' or 'website' refer solely to the content found at www.sheffieldccg.nhs.uk.

Website Privacy

When you visit the website we do not collect any personal information about you. However, we do collect some standard log information about the general usage of the site. We use this information to see general patterns of usage of our site such as:

Total number of visitors during a given time period.
Where the visitor came from Google, Yahoo or Bing etc
Which pages were visited

This information will help us improve the website for our visitors and we cannot use this data to personally identify anyone.

Queries Regarding Data Protection Issues

New legislation (General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018) mandates that the CCG appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO). This is because we are a public body.

The DPO will assist us to monitor internal compliance, inform and advise on data protection obligations and act as a contact point for data subjects (members of the public and employees) where there are concerns or queries regarding Data Protection. The DPO will also act as a contact point for communication with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

The CCG has appointed a shared service to deliver the DPO role provided by eMBED Health Consortium
