Moving Together

MSK logo

GPs in Sheffield have approved a bold new approach to healthcare commissioning, which puts patients firmly at the heart of their treatment decisions, in a move that sees patients in Sheffield amongst the first in the country to benefit from this approach.

Patients and clinicians working together

Known as 'commissioning for outcomes', NHS Sheffield CCG will take this approach to the commissioning of Musculoskeletal (MSK) services. Find out more about MSK services here.

Commissioning for outcomes will see patients and clinicians working together to manage the patient’s care and will see payment from healthcare commissioner to healthcare provider made upon meeting the desired health outcome. This is a significant change, as previously payment was made on number of treatments carried out by a service not according to the outcome.
