NHS Services are available 365 days a year. Here’s a guide to your options if you become unwell over the Christmas and New Year period.
Many pharmacies are open evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Your local pharmacist is fully qualified to advise you on the best course of action and can offer expert advice and treatment for many common illnesses.

Please plan-ahead and order any repeat prescriptions from your GP before the Christmas and New Year period.
People can order and renew prescriptions through the GP Online Service provided by NHS England. You can find out more about this service by visiting www.nhs.uk
GP practices in Sheffield will be closed on the Bank Holidays Monday 25th December, Tuesday 26th December and Monday 1st January.
Practices who routinely open on a Saturday or have early or late clinics, may also be operating changed services over the Christmas and New Year period and some will be opening extended hours. Please check with your Practice for individual opening hours.
In Sheffield, if you need to see a GP and your practice is closed there are four GP practices from which an out-of-hours service operates. This service will be operating over the Christmas and New Year period while other practices are closed. You need an appointment to access this service so please call 111 when your practice is closed or your normal GP practice phone number during regular opening hours.
