St Luke’s In Patient Centre

St Luke’s In Patient Centre provides expert care and support to people requiring intensive specialist palliative care and whose needs require 24-hour monitoring. Medical and nursing care is planned and provided by a specialist team of medical consultants, registrars, doctors and nurses, who have extensive knowledge and experience of caring for people with terminal illnesses.

The doctors and nurses meet regularly with various professional therapists to discuss how best to care and support each patient and their loved ones, whilst taking each patient’s individual needs and preferences into account.

The In Patient Centre comprises 14 individual en-suite rooms and two spacious triple rooms with en-suite, as well as facilities for relatives to stay over if they would like to.

Other facilities include our gardens and garden room, terrace and spa room, which patients are welcome to use at any time. Patients can also access services available through the Active Intervention Centre, if they wish to do so.

Once any problems are resolved, most patients return home. In fact around 35% of patients are discharged. Prior to discharge from the In Patient Centre, St Luke’s Transfer of Care Team liaise with patients, families, colleagues and other healthcare professionals to ensure that discharge into the community is as smooth as possible.
