A Sheffield guide to emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children and young people

Just as we need to look after our bodies, we also need to look after our emotional and mental wellbeing. How we feel can change from day to day depending on what is happening in our lives and sometimes we might need a little help.

Let’s Talk is your guide to emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children and young people in Sheffield. If you’re a young person, a parent or carer or someone who works with young people, this guide will help you find the right advice and support and see what services are available in Sheffield.

Please find the Let's Talk Directory here.

If you have any feedback or comments on the Let’s Talk Directory, please email SHECCG.ChildrensCommissioning@nhs.net

What do you want to talk about?

Sheffield Young Carers (SYC) offers 1:1 and group support for young carers who feel scared or stressed at times about the people they care for, or who are impacted by a family members’ drug/alcohol use.

They aim to build support networks, confidence and resilience, and also have a counselling service and family service for members who need it.

The service is for children and young people aged 8-25 who live in Sheffield and provide care for one or more family members who have disabilities, chronic physical illnesses, mental health difficulties or problems with drugs or alcohol. Their service is also available for young people impacted by a family member’s drug or alcohol use, even if they’re not in a caring role for them.

A referral form is available to download from their website. Young people must agree before being referred.

The SYC office is open Monday-Friday during office hours. Their various groups run on different weekday evenings.
