Stay Well This Bank Holiday

On bank holiday (Monday 25 May 2020) GP practices and some pharmacies are closed, but there are other services available if you need urgent care.

Your local pharmacist can offer expert advice and treatment for many common illnesses, such as aches and pains, colds and flu, itchy skin conditions and simple eye infections and you don’t need an appointment. Pharmacy opening times will differ on bank holiday Friday and over the weekend, for a list of pharmacy opening times, see here.

The Walk in Centre on Broad Lane is open 8.00am and 10.00pm, 365 days a year. The nurse led NHS team are there to help when you need advice and treatment for most common illnesses that are urgent but not life threatening. You don’t need an appointment just walk in and wait.

If you’re unsure of what help you need, visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111 if you can’t find the help you need online, they’ll be able to tell you what to do next. If you need to see a GP or nurse the 111 team will make you an appointment with an out of hours service.

Only go to A+E or call 999 in a medical emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you require emergency contraception over the bank holiday weekend, you can get this free of charge from the  Broad Lane Walk in Centre or the Wicker Pharmacy on bank holiday Friday and Wicker Pharmacy, Sheffield Late Night Pharmacy (277 Fulwood Rd, Sheffield S10 3BD) and Asda Parson Cross pharmacy on Saturday and Sunday.

For mental health advice and support visit www.sheffieldmentalhealth.co.uk or call the Single Point of Access line if you have a mental health emergency on 0114 226 3636.

The main symptoms of coronavirus are a continuous, new cough and a high temperature. If you have these symptoms it’s really important that you don’t go to places like your pharmacy or the Walk in Centre. Instead, use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/ - only call 111 if you're unable to get help online.
