I am writing under the Freedom of Information Act to request information about Fast Track Continuing Healthcare for the financial year 2019/20 in respect of the NHS Sheffield CCG.

I am requesting the following information with respect to Fast Track Continuing Healthcare:

Question 1

What was the average time period in the CCG in days/hours from the point at which a Fast Track CHC application is made to the care package being provided for the financial year 2019/20?

Assumption made that ‘made’ is date received.  Unfortunately we don’t record within our data the response time from date Fast Track (FT) received to care commenced.  However, if it helps we have an internal KPI that measures that all FTs are approved within 24 hours of receipt (excluding Bank Holidays and Weekends).

Question 2

What was the average time period in days/hours from the point at which a Fast Track CHC application is approved to the care package being provided for the financial year 2019/20?

The average period in days from FT approved to care commencement is 6 days.  This can be affected by many differing factors including patients become not medically fit for discharge or being transferred to hospice care, families choosing care homes for their relatives and availability of domiciliary care provision for home support etc.

During the financial year 2019/20, how many applications for fast track CHC did the CCG receive?
