Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Request for Information

We are pleased to respond to your request for information and our response is set out below:

Request/ Response

I am contacting you to request information under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 (‘the Act’) on the following questions:

1. What was the annual budget for patients commissioned for care in ophthalmology and eye departments by the CCG in each of the last 5 financial years?

The following values are Sheffield CCG’s expenditure each year relating to “Problems of Vision” as reported in the National Programme Budgeting exercise.

Further details of this national classification are available online here – https://www.england.nhs.uk/prog-budgeting/

Unfortunately this information is not available for 19/20, usually this would be available later in the year, but as a result of COVID-19 we do not know when or if this may be available.

This incorporate all CCG costs, including certain A&E attendances, Transport costs, GP and Acute prescribing along with certain Outpatient and Inpatient activity.

The detailed guidance available online shows what’s included. This is not the same as how we record specialities (e.g. Ophthalmology, Medical Ophthalmology).

It is worth noting that the methodology can change from year to year, and tariff prices can also change each year.
