3. Do you hold any more information on psychological support for parents who have experienced pregnancy or baby loss that maybe useful in helping us to understand the services they can access in your area? (Free text)
Although the CCG does not commission a specific service, we would expect Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust to provide a level of support where the loss causes significant mental ill health. The IAPT service isn’t able to provide on-going psychological ‘support’ specifically for parents who have experienced pregnancy or baby loss however it may be that we offer psychological interventions for people who experience depression/anxiety which could be as a result of this and would usually look to referring on to a more specialised service for tailored support if this is what the patient needs. Generally however on the IAPT website and on the Sheffield mental health guide, there is simply signposting to charities. In the case of people being under the care of the perinatal service at the time of miscarriage or stillbirth or if there was a neonatal death of the baby, the service will work to discharge the mother in a sensitive, timely way, signposting to one of a number of charities in the city. If there has been no contact with the perinatal service, no support would be offered by that service. The following providers may be able to offer more information: Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust: foi@shsc.nhs.uk Sheffield Children’s Hospital: foi@sch.nhs.uk
