Patient and Public Engagement - New Respiratory Strategy

This Patient Engagement opportunity for respiratory services in Sheffield is now closed, and we would like to thank everyone who participated and shared their experiences with us. We are now consolidating this information and building this into our plans for how we deliver future respiratory services.

During February and March 2015 we have heard from people online through Patient Opinion, in group sessions at Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Breathe Easy and we have met with patients on a 1:1 basis.

It has been heartening to hear so many patients provide positive feedback on their experiences of the healthcare they receive, in particular the value they have taken from Pulmonary Rehabilitation. There have however been some important stories that highlighted areas that we can work on to improve. We will use this important information during the development of the new Respiratory Strategy.

The new strategy will help to provide the right services for people with respiratory conditions that:

  • Support them and their carers to manage their condition(s) with confidence and achieve the best quality of life.
  • Help delay, or even prevent the development of respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma and pneumonia.

The strategy will focus on three main respiratory conditions:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Asthma
  • Pneumonia

We would like to thank Patient Opinion for their support and contribution in helping to gather and analyse the feedback given, and to everyone who read our blogs and took part.
