The CCG, along with partners and the public, have undertaken a number of workshops and engagement activities to achieve a collective understanding of the problems in urgent care in Sheffield. The activities have taken place in December 2018, January and February 2019 and are continuing in March 2019.

Please click here to see a presentation from December which highlights the journey to this point which describes our reflections and revised approach since the decision made in September at Primary Care Commissioning Committee to refresh the proposals.

Below are the outputs and documentation.

January 2019 - joint public and partner workshop

In January, we brought our partners and public reference group together.

At this workshop, we started to further explore the problems raised in the first workshops.

The aims of the workshop were to:

  • To continue to develop a collective view of the problems Sheffield faces regarding urgent care
  • Revisit the draft objectives to solve the problems
  • Gain a common understanding of what urgent care services look like in Sheffield
  • Map your patient journey through urgent care

We asked attendees to check the revised definition of urgent care which had been discussed at the first workshops.

We also pulled all the problems and issues from the first workshops into one picture as a Venn diagram. This is a constant throughout the workshops as we wanted all attendees to make sure we were capturing any new issues from the discussions we were having at every event.

We know from the first consultation, that the public and partners wanted more information about urgent care services. So in this workshop we started sharing information. One of the common problems raised in the first workshops was the patient and staff experiences of the urgent care pathway (or patient journey). To explore this further, we drew together a flow chart and asked everyone at the workshop to map out a recent experience of urgent care.

We also started our community engagement - you can view the engagement plan for January - February here.

Please see here for other presentations from the workshop.

February 2019 - partner workshop and public reference workshop

On the 14 February, the aims of the workshop were to:

  • To continue to develop a collective view of the problems Sheffield faces regarding urgent care
  • Drawing  patient journeys received so far
  • What’s most important and what needs most improvement – View from the room
  • Engagement Update

On the 28 February, the aims of the workshop were to:

  • To continue to develop a collective view of the problems Sheffield faces regarding urgent care
  • Discuss the raw information from the targeted community engagement done so far and to identify any common themes in urgent care..
  • Are there any problems in urgent care not captured so far arising from the previous item. Some of our targeted engagement had already taken place, and participants started to look through the conversations to understand the key themes and make sure any new problems are captured on our problem Venn diagram.

There was also an update of the targeted engagement taking place in specific communities - this can be viewed here.

An overview of the engagement work that took place in January and February can be viewed here.
