Sheffield City Council would like to hear from families who have a child with special educational needs and / or a disability about any concerns they have regarding the return to school in September. We know that parents will contact their child’s school directly with any specific questions or concerns but it would be helpful for us to see if there are some common worries.
We would also like to hear about any positive experiences during lockdown which could possibly be built on in the future. We know that many families have found lockdown challenging but some parents of children with SEND have told us there have also been positives, for example their child being less anxious.
We have created a brief online questionnaire asking the following three questions.
- What questions or concerns do you or your child have about their return to school in September?
- Are there things that the school or setting needs to be aware of to ensure a good transition back to school?
- Have there been any positives for you and your child during lockdown that we could build on in the future?
The questionnaire is available here and will be open until Friday 24 July.
Once the results are collated, the outcomes and details of actions to be taken will be shared with all schools and relevant services as well as with parent groups.
Schools and colleagues are asked to share this questionnaire as widely as possible with families.
