We are pleased to respond to your request for information and our response is set out below:

Request /Response

I’m a reporter for [redacted] and I’m looking for some information on Christmas bank holiday extended hours to be answered under the Freedom of Information Act.

I would like to know general practice extended hours over Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day 2019-20. Please note – this is about GP extended hours and is not about out-of-hour services.

I have attached an Excel sheet template - please can you fill it in with the following data for your CCG hub for each day:

In responding to these questions we have assumed that this request relates to GP Extended Access services commissioned by NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (SCCG).

SCCG commission a GP Extended Access Service from a single provider, Primary Care Sheffield. The service is operated from six hubs located in GP premises across the City and operates or by variation with prior agreement from SCCG.

1How many patients attended your general practice extended hours (not out of hours services) on Christmas Day 2019, Boxing Day 2019 and New Year's Day 2020?

We do not hold the information requested. Please contact Primary Care Sheffield or individual practices in order to obtain to this information.

2. How many general practice premises were open on Christmas Day 2019, Boxing Day 2019 and New Year's Day 2020?

Christmas Day – Two hubs

Boxing Day – Four hubs

New Year’s Day – Three hubs

3. How much money did it cost to open these premises on Christmas Day 2019, Boxing Day 2019 and New Year's Day 2020?

Sheffield CCG does not hold this information, in line with national guidance https://www.england.nhs.uk/gp/gpfv/redesign/improving-access/ we commission GP extended access services on a block contract basis at an agreed value per head of population for a minimum number of appointments (further information and guidance can be found in the link provided).

4. How many GPs were on shift for each of these days?

Sheffield CCG does not hold this information. Extended access services are commissioned on the basis of opening times and slots. Primary Care Sheffield will be able to supply this information.
