Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Request for Information

We are pleased to respond to your request for information and our response is set out below:

Request/ Response

Please can you tell me:

1) What infection control support do you provide to general practice - be it guidance, resources, auditing?

The CCG Infection Prevention and control has previously undertaken a big programme of face to face IPC audit visits (which included an IPC training update) in 2014-15.

Further to this we offer IPC audit/observational visit if a GP Practice requests it (they have IPC questions or a new staff member in post who has IPC lead for the practice) or if the CCG or other organisations has concerns about IPC.

We also have a glow and tell box which the practice can borrow, this acts as an update for hand hygiene only.

They can also purchase copies of Preventing Infection Workbook for General Practice as per the link below.

https://www.infectionpreventioncontrol.co.uk/gp-practices/

Information/guidance is also available on the CCG intranet under clinical quality on the IPC intranet page. This includes information under the following headings:

We also:

2) Do you currently commission any provider to support general practice with infection control? No

2i) If yes, please give provider name N/A

2ii) If no, how do practices in your area ensure their compliance with infection control guidance and best practice?

Please see response to question 1.

3) Have you ever commissioned a provider to support general practices in your area with infection control? No

If yes: N/A

3i) Please name the provider

3ii) When was this service commissioned?

3iii) When did this service end or is it still running?

3iv) What happened to the funding at the end of this service?

4) Does the CCG have any plans to commission any service in the future to support general practice with infection control requirements? No
